Overview of the Dacia Sandero Stepway
ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE FOR THE DACIA SANDERO STEPWAY
The entry-level model of the contract hire Dacia Sandero Stepway features a 1.0-litre engine producing 90 hp which offers good performance. Economy for the Stepway is 47 mpg, with emissions of 139g/km.
The Sandero Stepway comes with either a six-speed manual transmission, or a CVT automatic gearbox that is a smooth performer.
There's also the option of a bi-fuel model - unusual among car manufacturers - so drivers get to choose between petrol or LPG when filling up - and a range of up to 800 miles. The bi-fuel engine output is 100hp.
EQUIPMENT AND HANDLING FOR THE DACIA SANDERO STEPWAY
The Dacia Sandero Stepway car leasing range sits alongside the five-door hatchback sibling, the Sandero, and offers a higher ground clearance and more technology.
This is an all-new offering and there's plenty of equipment on board - opt for the range-topper, the Comfort trim, and drivers get a rear-view camera, rear and front parking sensors, climate control and blind spot warning. There's also 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control and stop and start for better fuel consumption. Drivers also get satnav and a six-speaker sound system. The entry-level model doesn't have quite a long equipment list, but it is still worth considering for those who are looking for a rugged family vehicle.
One issue for potential drivers is the two-star Euro NCAP safety rating but this is down to the safety equipment list that many (more expensive) rivals will have.
Dacia is trying to offer a cracking car for a limited budget, and they've managed to succeed. It's only available in front-wheel drive but it's a comfortable vehicle for long motorway journeys and a rewarding car to drive around town.
The interior has been well-designed and there are some hard plastics to help deal with the robust punishment family use will bring.
The top model features an 8-inch infotainment display with smartphone compatibility, and it is easy-to-use. Dacia has also added a built-in phone holder which many will find useful. Basic equipment for the Essential trim features front fog lights, 16-inch steel wheels, LED daytime running lights and air-conditioning.
The carmaker has also added emergency brake assist and hill start assist, along with an adjustable boot and modular roof bars - they can be easily switched to install accessories without buying a new set of bars. There's even an e-Call system onboard that will contact the emergency services should the car detect it has been involved in an accident.
There is a lot to like about the all-new Dacia Sandero Stepway SUV and for the money, it offers a great family car and it is a sound choice for those wanting adventures with a spacious and comfortable car to drive.
