Originally launched as the Citroen Crossback DS 4, this second generation DS 4 was launched in 2021 and aimed to replace the DS 5, and it is based on the modular EMP 2 platform chassis jointly developed by the PSA group, a flexible design for mid-size cars, front wheel drive with a transverse engine.

The car’s design is distinctively French in style. It was designed in Paris and is produced at the Opel plant in Rüsselseim, Germany, owned by the Stellantis Group.

The DS 4 is intended to compete with the BMW 1 series and the Mercedes-Benz A class.

The E-Tense power unit uses the latest generation plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology. The DS 4 has a 1.6 litre 180bhp petrol engine and 110bhp electric motor to offer a combined bhp of up to 225, giving the DS 4 remarkable performance and up to 40 miles zero emissions range.

The battery charges in 1 hour 55 minutes using a home 7 kW wall box; charging can also be achieved by using regenerative braking on the E-Save function, both derived from DS’s experience in motorsport.
