The Renault Clio is a Five-door hatchback, front-engine, front-wheel drive car produced by French manufacturer Renault; it was launched in 1990 and is now in its fifth generation.
The Clio is only one of two cars ever to have been voted European car of the year twice, in 1991 and 2006. It’s named after a daughter of Zeus in Greek mythology.
The Clio enjoys a good sporting pedigree, and the works version of the Clio has been entered in various motorsport competitions, such as the Spa 24 hours and the British GT series. Generation five Clio also competed successfully in rallycross and rally sports.
This sporting heritage and the early famous “Papa, Nicole” advertising on British TV have endeared the Clio to generations of British drivers.
