Overview of the Seat Leon

Along with very good petrol and diesel engines, a new SEAT Leon comes in various forms including a hybrid. The 1.0 litre petrol offerings with three-cylinders are very good performers, particularly the 110 PS TSI unit. There are also outputs of 130 PS and 150 PS available and the better performance comes from the four-cylinder 1.5 litre TSI engine for those that need it. The engines are mated to either a manual gearbox or a smooth changing dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission and the flagship model features a 2.0 litre 190 PS TSI engine. For those who need economy or drive lots of miles, there is a very good 2.0 litre TDI engine with either 115 PS or 150 PS outputs. However, the mild hybrid - it's known as the eTSI - is an interesting offering with a 13 kWh lithium-ion battery that is coupled with a 1.4 litre TSI petrol engine. The all-electric range is 38 miles and the hybrid is available in both hatchback and estate models.

What to expect when you lease a SEAT Leon

In many ways, the SEAT Leon is an excellent choice as a family hatchback; it's stylish, with lots of equipment and impressive engines. The new mild-hybrid offering will also boost its attractive qualities. Along with the stylish design, the Leon has low running costs and handling is excellent.

The latest model delivers better grip on country roads and it's still an able performer around town. Among the new safety features are predictive adaptive cruise control, along with emergency assistance and the safety cell has been boosted to improve protection should there be a collision. Seat has also added cloud-based functions and services to help drivers and there's a new smartphone app to help drivers keep in touch while on the move. As is the trend, the new SEAT Leon is slightly longer and wider than the car it replaces, with the estate being 93 mm longer.

This means there's more space, particularly for headroom and the Leon has been a huge success for the carmaker with the firm shifting more than 250,000 versions in the UK over the past 23 years.

Seat Leon in a nutshell

Leasing a SEAT Leon is a straightforward process. There are six trim levels and all feature the firm's digital cockpit that uses a 10.25-inch driver instrument cluster with most trims having the 10-inch infotainment touchscreen. The boot size in the new car is the same as the outgoing model, a useful 308 litres, while the estate offers 617 litres, which is slightly more.

In addition, the SEAT Leon offers more practicality and standard kit includes USB connectivity, keyless start, electronic parking brake and alloy wheels. Other models come with satnav, parking sensors, dual exhaust pipes and a multifunction leather steering wheel. Essentially, the all-new SEAT Leon offers an excellent hatchback or estate for families wanting practicality and a comfortable car that is great fun to drive and also cheap to run. It's definitely worth shortlisting against most of its rivals.
