The Seat Tarraco is available with either a 1.5 litre or a 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine which are great performers around town and on motorways. There's also the option of two 2.0 litre diesel units which offer better torque and are ideal for towing a trailer, for example. The engines are mated to either a six-speed manual box or a smooth changing automatic transmission. The 1.5 litre petrol engine will meet most needs and returns economy of 40mpg while the 2.0 litre petrol engine returns 35mpg.

Equipment and handling

Not only is the Seat Tarraco a smart looking car, it's also an enjoyable SUV to drive, particularly around town. It's a nimble and agile performer and there's plenty of space for five people with the rear row of seats only suitable really for children. This is the largest of the three SUVs made by Seat and its low suspension delivers grip and stability to deliver a rewarding drive. There's also a lot of equipment and the interior has been well-designed to be a comfortable place to spend time. Standard equipment includes a very good 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with smartphone connectivity and it has integration with Amazon Alexa. Other models come with climate control, satnav, larger alloy wheels and privacy glass. The top models feature adaptive cruise control, rear-view camera and keyless entry, along with heated seats and a 360° camera. The options list features metallic paint without any charge and there's the offer of an excellent panoramic sunroof which is worth considering though it's not cheap. Despite the size, the Seat Tarraco is enjoyable to drive with a composed stance on winding country roads and among the safety kit is automatic emergency braking. It's also a relaxed car to be in for long journeys with the suspension dealing effectively with rough roads. Essentially, there's a lot to like about the Seat Tarraco which is a stylish and well-made modern car that will meet most needs in an all-round impressive offering.
